When Seoul Metro recently conducted two trial runs of driverless train operation(DTO) in the section of Subway Line 8 in Seoul, the Seoul Metro Labor Union reacted strongly against Seoul Metro, demanding it to "stop the project of driverless train operation". It is also reported that Seoul Metro pushes ahead with a 'smart station' project which is designed to assign a staff to control the operation of several stations. The labor union plans to stage a struggle to demand Seoul Metro CEO Kim Tae-ho to step down, if the corporation does not stop the project of driverless train operation and unstaffed stations by the end of this month.
