30 Years have passed since the Act on Equal Employment was promulgated in 1987 and 18 years since the amendment was made to the Act on Equal Employment and Support for Work-Family Reconciliation which included a provision on the prevention of sexual harassment at work in 1999.
However, according to the National Human Rights Commission and women organizations, the number of reported sexual harassment in the workplace remained unabated, reaching the accumulated reports of 1,985 cases during the period from 2001 up until 2015, and it soared up more than 200 reported cases each year since 2010, showing an upward trend of the sexual harassment at work.
