Workers in the special types of employment do not make an employment contract with their user firms but provide the labor service to them, for which they are not recognized as the workers defined in the labor laws and accordingly they are not protected by the labor-related laws.
The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions(KCTU), People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy(PSPD) and Minbyun-Lawyers for a Democratic Society also held a press briefing on June 27 in front of the Presidential Advisory Committee for State Affairs Planning, a de-facto presidential transition team, to call for the revision of the Trade Union and Labor Relations Adjustment Act to guarantee the basic labor rights for the workers in the special types of employment or the enactment of a special law recommended by the National Human Rights Commission.
