Male workers get paid 1.7 times more than female workers in average.

According to the Statistics Korea on June 22, the monthly average wage in 2015 reached 3.29 million won(US$ 2,885) before tax, with the median wage of 2.41 million won(US$ 2,113). The monthly average wage for male workers was 3.9 million won(US$ 3,419), 1.7 times higher than the female workers' average wage of 2.36 million won(US$ 2,069).

The monthly average wage for workers with more than 20 years of consecutive service was 6.78 million won(US$ 5,943), in contrast of 2.13 million won(US$ 1,867) for the workers with less than 1 year of employment.

The monthly average wage for the workers of the companies with more than 300 employees was 4.32 million won(US$ 3,790), and 3.12 million won(US$ 2,739) for the companies employing 50 to 300 and 2.38 million won(US$ 2,087) for the companies with less than 50 employees.
