President Moon Jae-in made an election pledge during the campaign that he will seek to retract the notification of illegal status issued against the Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union(KTU) in early part of his presidential term.

KTU asked a meeting with the social division of the Presidential Advisory Committee for State Affairs Planning on June 8 to discuss the measures for the retraction of KTU's illegal status and the revision of the 'Act on the Establishment and Operation of Trade Unions for Teachers'. KTU's messages were delivered to the Presidential Advisory Committee, but clear answers were not made by the committee.
