Seo Myung-sik, head of COEX union local died of the acute myocardial infarction on March 21, three days after he fell down. It is known that before his collapse, he had complained of severe stress due to the recently completed personnel restructuring and oppression upon the union in the process of collective bargaining by the COEX management side.

Recorded remarks were also released that the COEX management seemed to have organized the unionized employees to move a non-confidence motion against the union local leader Seo Myung-sik. When the management is found to have controlled and interfered in the union operation, they will be punished for the unfair labor practice.

The KPTU and COEX union local claimed that COEX chief executive officer Byun Bo-kyung is liable for the death of union local leader Seo Myung-silk. COEX is a leading enterprise in the Korean MICE(meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) industry.
