Korail seemed to push ahead with the tender notices to outsource the KTX maintenance and repair business and Korail's technology executive director refused a talk requested by the union which wanted to stop the outsourcing plan.

According to the union, locomotive maintenance and repair divisions in Goyang City(Greater Seoul Area), Busan City and Honam Provincial Area have already advertised tender notices to seek bidders.

The KRWU is gravely concerned about the passengers' safety, due to the outsourcing of the KTX maintenance and repair business which requires accumulated technical competence and skills.

Presidential hopefuls of the opposition parties including Moon Jae-in, the current front-runner in the opinion polls. expressed their opposition against the outsourcing of public service businesses.
