44% of nursing assistants are paid with the statutory minimum wage of 1,352,230 won(US$ 1,200) or less, and only 5.5% are paid with over 2 million won(US$ 1,780) a month.

As of October 2016, the total number of nursing assistants reached 166,022 with the influx of additional 20,000 each year. Most of nursing assistants are working in the small clinics(64.7%), followed by care hospitals(16.58%), hospitals(11.91%) and general hospitals(5.47%).
