In February 2013, the Supreme Court ruled a fine of 7 million won(US$ 6,457) to the former GM Korea CEO David Nick Reilly for the illegal use of dispatched workers which is banned by the Act on the Protection of Dispatched Workers.

In June this year, the Supreme Court decided that the temporary agency workers working within the compound of GM Korea Changwon Plant are the employees of GM Korea.

In recent GM Korea did not renew the contracts with 4 in-house subcontracting companies which will expire by the end of this year and made new contracts with other subcontracting companies. These new subcontracting companies do not provide the employment succession to the workers concerned, but they are selectively recruiting workers who are not unionized.
