The three ruling and opposition parties on December 12 agreed to form a consultative body to fill the power vacuum in running state affairs and a parliamentary special committee for the Constitution amendments after President Park Geun-hye was stripped of presidential duties by the impeachment resolution passed by the National Assembly on December 9.

They also agreed to convene an extraordinary session of the National Assembly to kick off on December 15 and run through 31 December. The consultative body will be composed of the representatives of the government and three political parties. It will deal with the people's livelihood and economic affairs as the priorities. The working-level committee of the consultative body will be composed of heads of the policy committees of three political parties and deputy prime ministers from the government.

A bill to form a parliamentary special committee for the Constitution amendments will be deliberated in the plenary session of the National Assembly slated for December 29.
