The newly elected leadership of the Korean Teachers and Education Workers(KTU) stated the mission to win the legal battle to retain its legal rights to stay alive and to reform the education.

The Seoul High Court, an appellate court, in January 2016 made a verdict in favor of the government decision in October 2013 to outlaw the Korean Teachers and Education Workers Union(KTU) by upholding a lower court ruling to outlaw the KTU in June 2014.
